This is not the most profound post ever made, but I would like to express my disappointment in Zimbabwe’s performance in its series with South Africa. I do not mean disappointment in the sense that I could have done better, but in the sense that I had hoped the would have stepped up to the challenge of facing South Africa. Right now I am watching the slow death of the Zimbabwe batting order while chasing the monumental target of 400. The seventh wicket just fell and they only have 100 runs.
After the success Zim had in the Tri-Series with Sri Lanka and India, I was hopeful that they would provide a more serious challenge to the Proteans. I truly want to see teams like Zimbabwe that are almost always underdogs build their programs to a point where it is not automatically assumed that they will lose when facing a top tier team. I don’t think that there will be a day when every test playing nation is at roughly the same level in all forms of the game, but I do enjoy watching matches that do not involve my favorite teams (England, Knight Riders) and I like close matches.
